Welcome to the Systems & Tools Training for Quick Service Restaurants. In this segment, we will introduce you to the foundational systems and tools used in quick service restaurants like McDonald's or Chick-fil-A. The cornerstone of every QSR's operation is its Point of Sale (POS) system. This system not only records sales transactions, but also facilitates other crucial operations such as inventory management, employee scheduling, and customer management. Learning to navigate the POS is your first step. The next key tool is the Digital Menu Board (DMB) system, which displays the menu to the customers, and can often be updated in real-time from the POS. Finally, we have the Kitchen Display System (KDS) which communicates orders from the front of the house to the kitchen. Understanding these systems and how they interact is essential to maintaining a smooth operation.
